Located 80 miles from London Ramsgate began as a fishing and farming settlement, The chalk cliff coastline hiding a shallow valley now know as Parish of St. Lawrence. The cliffs ( East Cliff and West Cliff) have promenades running supporting car parks and sandy beaches.
Visitors in the form of the Vikings ( Hengist & Horsa ) landed in the 5th century, St Augustine with his own brand of religion also landed here which is assumed marks the beginning of the christian religion.
With the New Westwood Centre with it's many Top shops and D I Y centres, access to Europe, A flourishing Airport and harbour facilities Ramsgate is fast becoming one of the sought after places to live in Thanet.
On the outskirts of Kent International Airport, the village of Manston offers visitors access to the Spitfire and Hurricane Museum has with it's aviation links including the RAF and World War I and II links

The areas main industries were tourism and fishing although today economic players like Pfizer's for one have opened up and offer many job opportunities for the locals and commuters alike.
With a thriving marina, rail system and airport Ramsgate is fast becoming one of the most sought after areas in Thanet.
